Gerhard Nahler is a member of the Expert Council of the Institute. He is the founder and general manager of an independent international research organization CIS (Clinical Investigation Support GmbH) located in Vienna, Austria. His company provides consulting services in the area of research and development of medicinal products, from preclinical phase to clinical phases I to IV and also on regulatory affairs. Gerhard Nahler holds extensive expert experiences in clinical trials and quality management and provided trainings on “Good Clinical Practice” (GCP) to physicians over more than twenty years. Between 1991 and 2001 he was President of the Austrian Society of Pharmaceutical Medicine; he is also author of the “Dictionary of Pharmaceutical Medicine”, Springer Verlag, 3rd edition 2014.
Since more than ten years he is engaged in the application of research results on the cannabinergic system to human subjects and has contributed to the Guidelines for THC in Food in Europe of the nova-Institute, Germany, 2015. Being well aware of the clinical point of view he has a unique perspective of this field.
Gerhard Nahler studied medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and has worked as physician in Viennese hospitals. He holds a PhD in chemistry of the Vienna University and is Qualified Person according to the Directive 2001/83/EC.
